Purpose of the role

In this role, you will join Proton's dedicated DevOps team, bringing your enthusiasm, knowledge, and ideas to improve and scale our deployment processes. Our software engineering teams take advantage of DevOps methodologies to predictably and reliably release product enhancements in the Proton ecosystem.



We use CI/CD pipelines that rely on a combination of on-premise and cloud infrastructure with Kubernetes, which we need your help to scale. In the future, this role will focus on increasing our deployment processes' automation and reliability, which is essential to supporting the growth of our user base and development teams.


What you will do

Join a globally distributed team tasked with improving how we deliver apps to customers on a Kubernetes control plane
Utilise your prior experience of production Kubernetes environments to advise and support our Development Teams
Establish sane and reliable defaults for a "paved road" style toolchain that consumers can pick up and use intuitively
Develop and grow the relationship between Infra and Engineering teams, supporting developers onboard their products to the platform
Work with our CI/CD environments to further improve our gitops centric deployment processes, utilising prior knowledge of Helm and Gitlab CI
Debug and fix build and deployment issues
Create consistent local and remote development environments
Document and share your work so others inside and outside the DevOps team can solve problems and contribute effectively
Job requirements
2+ years of professional experience deploying, maintaining, and tuning applications in production Kubernetes clusters
Experience building, maintaining, and fixing CI/CD systems

Demonstrable knowledge of highly available applications/systems

Ability to write and use Helm charts

Experience working with public and private cloud platforms

Comfortable with coding and switching between different languages

Skills in building monitoring and tooling solutions

Experience working with globally distributed infrastructure

Bonus points for

Experience with Infrastructure as Code

Securing container images, deployments, and pipelines

Familiarity working with Python, Go, Node or PHP

Experience with Kubernetes architecture and addressing scaling challenges

Experience with GitLab CI

Familiar with Jira/Confluence
